Privacy policy
The Cabinet of Weird Units (weirdunits.com) is an independent hobby project. This page explains what data is processed when you visit it.
What this site does not collect
There are no accounts, no sign-ups, no comments and no forms. The site does not ask for your name, email address or any other personal details.
Your theme setting
If you switch between light and dark mode, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage under the name weird-units-theme. It stays on your device, is never sent to the site, and you can remove it by clearing this site's data in your browser.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
This site shows ads served by Google AdSense, and the site's pages load Google's ad script. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising from Google at Google Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of some other vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info (US) or youronlinechoices.eu (Europe).
- Google explains how it uses data from sites that use its services at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalised ads are shown, through Google's consent message.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. The site owner sees only aggregated statistics, such as page-view counts, not individual visitors. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Fonts
The illustrated converter loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser requests them from Google's servers. The plain converter and the unit pages use fonts already on your device.
Links to other sites
Unit pages link to their sources, such as Wikipedia, NIST and the BIPM. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
